Burst onto the scene with the rustling of coconut leaves and the sound of drums the Kiribati Dancers.
They weren’t about to let it be a spectator sport though and they had most of the audience learning some moves! They were good teachers, and better dancers! It’s really a fantastic way to start your day surrounded by Pacific dance.
the dancers wore beautiful grass skirts or lavalava, coconut leaf headdresses, woven sashes and arm bands, belts decorated with shells, and necklaces of leaves and petals, all hand made traditional performance pieces.
Thank you so much to Maria Lucas for helping us to showcase the beauty of Kiribati dance.
